My question is to the Minister for Health regarding COVID marshals on construction sites.
My constituent employs a dozen staff directly and utilises a network of local sub-contractors and suppliers to build award-winning homes.
They have been proactive in ensuring they comply with mandated measures to date. This includes site hygiene, mask-wearing, social distancing, QR-code check-ins, authorised worker permits, limiting trade numbers on sites, not working on occupied premises, restricting client access to sites and encouraging vaccination.
The new requirement for a COVID marshal at all times on every site is simply impossible. It will force them to close most of their sites with a dramatic impact on their clients and trades.
So my question is: will the minister review and modify this requirement for smaller construction sites so that a COVID marshal can service multiple sites?
