I want to give a massive shout out to the residents of Kilmore and how they have responded to the recent coronavirus cases in their community.  The cooperation and good record keeping of the proprietor and staff of the Oddfellows Café, their close contacts and others potentially exposed to the virus, is a demonstration of how a targeted, local and proportionate response to containing cases is indeed possible.

It is a demonstration of the capacity for local businesses to continue to operate in the coronavirus environment.

It’s a demonstration of people coming forward to get tested, if there is a reasonable need and without a big stick. It’s a demonstration how people can and will comply with a reasonable request to self-isolate – again, without a big stick.

Actions often speak louder than words, and I commend this community and their targeted and proportional actions that prevented a case from becoming an outbreak.
