My constituency question is to the Minister for Mental Health. The residents of Murrindindi Shire, in my Electorate, had received two exemptions from the Minister up to 30 June 2019 in relation to the provision of publicly-funded mental health services. One was in relation to the problem that many people in the Shire, especially from Kinglake, otherwise have to travel to Shepparton for subsidised mental health services (even when services in places like Healesville and Whittlesea are at least 100 kilometres closer to them). Another was the Minister’s direction to Melbourne Health, Austin Health and Goulburn Valley Health to provide mental health services for residents up to that date irrespective of catchment areas. I ask, can people in Murrindindi expect either or both of these exemptions to continue? Or have they now been ended? And if so, why?
