My Question is for the Minister for Road Safety and it follows a serious incident on the Black Spur on 18 January, whereby a long tanker unable to stay in its lane because of the vehicle’s length, pushed an oncoming car into the embankment.

As I have raised numerous times in Parliament, the Black Spur is a busy and narrow road, and situations like this are of extreme concern to local residents and tourists who use this route.  Simple mathematics could determine the maximum length for vehicles to be able to travel along this narrow road without impinging onto the oncoming lane and putting other road users at risk.

My question is: will the government consider initiating a maximum length of vehicles permitted on the Black Spur, with associated safety measures such as signage and a turnaround area?
